Town History:

Point Pleasant was first founded in the 1500’s and European settlers came to the land around 1665.  On February 15, 1850, Monmouth and Ocean Counties were separated, causing the formation of Point Pleasant.  In 1924, the Manasquan River-Bay Head Canal was created dividing Point Pleasant in half and soon after the canal’s name was changed to the Point Pleasant Canal. Point Pleasant Borough and Point Pleasant Beach are two separate municipalities that are neighboring towns.
